Cultivating Healthy Relationships is a small virtual group for individuals in New York/New Jersey who are looking to improve communication, closeness, compromise, and conflict repair in their current or future romantic relationships. Our group offers a unique opportunity to equip you with the tools and insights necessary for lasting relationship success.

  • Are you craving increased connection and closeness with your partner?

  • Are you finding it difficult to feel heard and seen by your partner?

  • Do you and your partner keep getting into the same fights over and over again?

  • Do you find navigating and repairing from conflict challenging, if not impossible?

  • Are you feeling dissatisfied with your sex life?

  • Do you find compromise with your partner to be a frustrating task?

  • Are you dating and finding it difficult to maintain a relationship?

  • Are you worried that you don’t have the skills needed to thrive in romantic relationships?

 

What can you expect from our group sessions?

  • Discuss common relationship challenges and how they impact overall health

  • Learn concrete Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) & Gottman Method skills

  • Provide and receive support to/from other group members with similar concerns

  • Prepare to take skills home and practice with your partner or others

  • Identify barriers to success with at-home practice and brainstorm ways to try again

 

You'll engage in guided discussions about common relationship challenges drawn from evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. Over 10 weeks, we will cover a variety of topics including:

 

  • Friendship Foundation

  • Mistakes Couples Make

  • Understanding Emotions

  • Turning Towards (Bids For Connection)

  • Accepting Influence

  • Compromise & Solvable Problems

  • Sore Spots

  • Deeper Connections

  • Relationship Repair

  • Sex & Intimacy

 

What are the goals of the group?

  • Develop a solid foundation of friendship with your current or future partner

  • Strengthen your relationships by improving the way you communicate, listen, and connect

  • Identify strategies to utilize when making common errors that couples make

  • Learn your and your partner’s sensitivities and how to change your reactions to these

  • Increase awareness of your unhelpful relationship patterns

  • Learn how to compromise with others

  • Learn how to navigate and repair from conflict

  • Discover how to show up for your partner in new ways

  • Re-imagine your physical intimacy and sex life

The goals of the group are to strengthen your relationships by honing your communication and connection-building skills. Our is aim to help you gain insight into unhelpful relationship patterns and learn how to overcome them through the acquisition of new skills and practice with your partner or others in your life.  The group setting is a unique opportunity to engage in supportive exploration of shared experiences of others, reducing feelings of isolation and uncertainty in your relationship journey.

 

Virtual sessions Wednesdays, June 5 - Aug 7

12:00-1:15pm or 5:30-6:45pm, depending on group preference

$125/session (will provide Superbills for out-of-network reimbursement)

 

The group will be led by Drs. Stephanie Simon and Lauren Sweitzer, relationship specialists. All prospective participants will meet briefly by phone with a group facilitator prior to the state date to gauge whether the group may be a good fit for your  goals.
